Volunteer - Become Involved
Volunteers welcome for all committees Fundraising Committee We are raising funds. “Money is the mother’s milk of politics.” Volunteers are helping solicit funds and oversee fund raising events, follow through with potential donors and devise elaborate and fun strategies on how to increase the resources to get our message out to the public. Public Relations and Media Committee We leverage our resources to the best advantage to reach the most people. Manage a Media List (both electronic and print), write press releases, blog, my space, youtube, bulletin boards, contact media regularly to keep them updated as to campaign happenings. Get-out-the-Vote Committee There are close to 100 precincts in the 5th District, precinct captains will get-out-the-vote in each precinct, schedule appearances at events/meetings in private homes and other small gatherings. Distribute flyers and posters before events so as to help us deliver our message directly to the people and encourage more involvement. Issues Committee Ours is an issues-oriented campaign with detailed positions on most of the main issues we are faced with in the 5th District. This will be mostly an online committee where we develop our positions. As part of our listening campaign, our IT chair, Tao Klauenburch, is also developing individual forums for different communities within the district encouraging people to articulate the problems that directly affect them and potential solutions. Information Technology and Website Committee (Chair: Tao Klauenburch, Vice-Chair: Richard Bellamy) We want to save trees and avoid filling mailboxes throughout the district with pronouncements on the problems and issues we face. Most of our “content” will be online and not in a recycling container. As part of this committee we will also be managing a database to help facilitate and organize our best efforts. Richard and Tao have a vision of continuing to use our IT and website materials after the election to encourage, coordinate and administer volunteer efforts throughout the 5th District. We are saying after the election don’t go away because then the real work begins, and we will need everyone to continue their participation. Office Committee We have a wonderful office in Sebastopol (610 Johnson Street) that volunteers staff and oversee all of the above. Office committee is also in charge of overseeing and supporting volunteers, financial disclosures, phone trees, distribution of campaign materials, etc. To win the election we need to serve Sebastopol and this office is key in spearheading that effort. |
